"I REALLY LIKE LIVERPOOL BUS TICKETS
Liverpool's First buses combine hi-resolution black, lilac and pink imagery, over layered to create a screen like sense of shallow depth whilst Arriva ticket's lower print screen resolution is counter balanced by the play in tone and scale of the Arriva Logos which appear to dance across the folded surface of the ticket.
It was with this spotter's interest in tickets that I became excited about the project. By the time I had received my sample tickets from Nottingham City Transport I had already (quite sadly- in a way) reworked a couple of local Merseyside tickets with felt tip (just to get me in the mood). However when I opened the envelope it took me a few moments to take in what I was looking at. On one side of the ticket was the usual hyper-sophisticated fast-food-outlet promo - typical early 21st century -on the other side of the ticket was ..well it was like being thrust back in time- I was taken back to my memories of, older peoples memories, of things like the ZX81 (honestly I don't remember this) and my memories of older people using things like the Canon Star Writer and saving data onto cassettes NOT compatible with floppy drives ( remember them?) -I could go on but you take my point -I was simultaneously seriously depressed and excited by this new/old prospect-and from there it was quite simple really ..."
